The breathtaking train ride to the unexpeted city
New Year brought the usual: headache for Alex and stomach ache for me, that got better with breakfast. The host's wife called a fast and cheap tuktuk that took us to the station, and we got into the train. It was not that full, but we were unable to get a seat, and sat freezing in the door most of the time, which was worth it, since the views were amazing!
When we arrived to Nanu Oya, Alex got a really good deal with a tuktuk that took us to our hotel. I went exploring the city while Alex rested, and found the city center really nice, with streets and everything, but the lake uninteresting. So I went back for Alex and went to the center, where we ate and bought things for him. We asked in the bus station if there were direct buses to Nallathanniya, and told us to go there next day at 12:30 or 16. Then we went back to the hotel to leave the shopping bags and heard our neighbours having sex, so I closed the door and Alex found that boring. We went to a Thai place to have some dinner, which was inside a luxury hotel, but it was full, and since we are not hungry anyway, we went back.
